PATNA: A man from Bihar has become an inspiration for the society by getting a post graduate degree at the age of 98!
Raj Kumar Vaishaya, a resident of Patna, was awarded the PG degree in economics on Tuesday. He had passed the examination in second division from Patna’s Nalanda Open University (NOU).
Vaishya got admission in the PG (economics) in 2016 at the age of 96 some 40 years after his retirement from service and worked hard for two years to achieve the rare feat.
“Now my long-cherished dream to get a post graduate degree remains fulfilled. I want to study further but my health doesn’t support me,” he was quoted as saying in the Gulf News.
He asked the new generation to “keep on trying” on being asked what was his message for them.
He was so eager to be recognized a PG degree holder that he sat with the students younger than his grand children in the examination halls for continuous three hours.
Now, he plans to write on poverty and unemployment, the twin issues plaguing the Indian society.
