PATNA: The JD-U in a significant move today announced no to contest the by-elections to three seats in Bihar—they include one LS seat and two assembly seats.
“The JD-U won’t field its candidates for the by-elections to three seats,” state party chief Vashistha Narayan Singh told the media on Saturday.
The announcement comes amid the JD-U legislator from Jokihat Sarfaraz Ahmad resigning from the party today and differences in the NDA over contesting the seats.
The three seats where by-polls are to be held include Araria LS seat and Jehanabad and Bhabua assembly seats. Of them, the first two is held by the RJD while Bhabua was won by the BJP.
They fell vacant after the death of respective candidates. The elections will be held on March 11.

“Just see, the party which is led by the chief minister don’t have the guts to fight elections. It has surrendered before the BJP,” Tejashwi taunted.
“As such, the BJP is not allowing the JD-U to contest on any seat. This is the condition of the party which is led by the chief minister. Just wait there were stampede-like situation in the party very soon,” he remarked.
