PATNA: In a popular Indian animated comedy adventure television series for children, the lead character Chhota Bheem always saves many through his acts of bravery.
A schoolboy identified as Bhim Yadav from Bihar did just that in real life when he saved the lives of hundreds of train passengers by making the train stop before it could cross over the broken track and met with an accident.
The boy who studies in class five in a local government school was going to his orchard on Monday noon when he found the track broken on the on the Gorakhpur-Narkatiaganj railway line in West Champaran district.
Without wasting anytime, he ran along the tracks and flagged his red shirt before the train approaching near the broken track.
After seeing the boy running, the driver noticed the danger and applied emergency brake, bringing the train to a halt.
Soon the message was communicated to the railway officials who rushed to the spot and got the broken railway track repaired. It was only then that the train resumed its forward journey.
Witnesses said the train passengers hugely thanked the schoolboy whose bravery saved their lives. But for his alertness, many lives would have surely lost.
