PATNA: The political stature of Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and Leader of Opposition in Bihar, is increasing day by day.
In a significant development, Tejashwi has now been included in the list of 25 “star campaigners” prepared by the Congress party for Karnataka assembly elections, as per media reports.
His name figures in the list, alongside NCP chief Sharad Pawar and SP president Akhilesh Yadav.
This is the first time that Tejashwi has been assigned the bigger responsibility outside his party. So far, he had been focusing on Bihar politics only.
Tejashwi who is son of jailed RJD chief Lalu Prasad took plunge into politics by contesting the last 2015 assembly elections in Bihar from Raghopur seat in Vaishali district.
He won the seat by a comfortable margin and was appointed the deputy chief minister in the previous Grand Alliance government.
However, the chief minister Nitish Kumar walked away from the ruling alliance midway and joined hands with the BJP to form NDA government in July last year, leaving Tejashwi among the opposition benches overnight.
