Bihar court orders for filing case against ex-J&K CM Farooq Abdullah over his PoK remarks

PATNA: A local court in Bihar has ordered filing of an FIR against former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah on the charges of treason.

The district court in West Champaran passed the orders acting on a complaint petition filed by a local lawyer Moorad Ali.

Soon after the lawyer approached the court over Abdullah’s remarks on PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir), the chief judicial magistrate Jayram Prasad asked the town police station to register a case against Abdullah.

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) president Abdullah on Saturday said the PoK belonged to Pakistan and the fact would not change no matter how many wars were fought over the issue.

However, India maintains that PoK belongs to India as it was invaded by Pakistan in 1947.

According to news agency ANI, the Parliament on February 22, 1994 passed a unanimous resolution that demanded, “Pakistan must vacate the areas of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which they have occupied through aggression; and resolves that all attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of India will be met resolutely.”

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar aso objected to Abdullah’s observations over PoK.

“While everybody is free to air his views in democracy, I believe Kashmir is an integral part of India and our stand on the PoK remains unchanged,” Kumar told the media on Monday.

Interestingly, Abdullah’s has got unexpected support from veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor.

“Farooq Abdhulla ji, Salaam! Totally agree with you, sir. J&K is ours, and PoK is theirs. This is the only way we can solve our problem. Accept it, I am 65 years old and I want to see Pakistan before I die. I want my children to see their roots. Bas karva Dijiye. Jai Mata Di !” was how Kapoor tweeted November 11.
