PATNA: The state government in Bihar has announced to give compensations to victims of mob lynching with soaring such cases becoming a matter of serious concern.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet held on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by chief minister Nitish Kumar.
As per the decision, the victim family will be given an interim compensation of Rs1 lakh within a month in case of death.
Further, the case will be speedily tried and disposed off within six months in any case upon which the full compensation of Rs 3 lakh will be paid.
It was also decided to pay a compensation of Rs1 lakh to the seriously injured victim of mob lynching while in the event of mental trauma, the victim will be paid Rs25,000.
