Bihar police order shifting of 44 gangsters outside Patna jails to check crime

PATNA: Authorities in Bihar today ordered shifting of 44 notorious gangsters to various jails outside Patna.

All these gangsters face serious charges like murder, kidnapping and extortion, and their shifting followed reports that they had been operating even from behind the bars.

Some of the notorious criminals who have been ordered to be shifted include- Bindu Singh, Ajay Kanu alias Ajay Kumar alias Chandra Prakash, Reet Lal Yadav, Durgesh Sharma, Ranjit alias Kalia, Kundan Singh. All are currently lodged in Patna’s Beur central jail.

The police have been told to shift these gangsters to jails located in Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur and Buxar.

“Several notorious criminals, who are lodged in different jails of Patna, are getting crimes committed from behind the bars. These criminals were operating through either mobile phones or meeting some other persons in jail for getting their work (crimes) done,” central range DIG Rajesh Kumar was quoted as saying by news agency PTI in his order.
