PATNA: In a lovely gesture, the Bihar State Shia Waqf Board is giving lands to the Hindu families for constructing homes at nominal rates.
Reports quoting local media said the board has shortlisted eight Hindu families for giving the waqf land for constructing their shelter.
Each family will be given something about 915 square feet of land on lease for a period of 30 years.
Each family will be charged only Rs500 per month for availing the land facility and if they are found quite punctual in paying the rent, their lease will be further renewed, informed sources said.
“We have decided to allot the waqf properties among the needy people, including from the Hindu families,” Bihar State Shia Waqf Board Irshad Ali told the media on Tuesday.
Apart from the Hindu families, the Board has planned to distribute land among 132 Muslim families. This is the first time that the waqf land is being distributed on a such a large scale.
This land is located near Gaighat on the Ashok Rajpath Raod in Patna.
