PATNA: The BJP today sought the resignation of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar a day after the state saw the re-run of the topper scam for the second consecutive year.
“Nitish Kumar has no right to continue in office after ruining the career of around a million students. He should immediately quit his throne,” state BJP chief Nityanand Rai told the media today.
He also demanded resignation of education minister Ashok Chaudhary who initially had defended the fake Class 12 topper Ganesh Kumar who was later arrested by the police on the charges of forgery.
During an investigation by the authorities it has come to light that the fake topper is 42-year-old who changed his name and date of birth to appear at the matriculation and class 12 exam twice to attain good marks.
According to authorities, his real date of birth is November 7, 1975.
This is the second time in quick succession that the Bihar School Examination Board has come under severe criticism for declaring the topper.
Last year, the BSEB faced severe embarrassment when it declared an incompetent student Ruby Rai as arts topper.
She was subsequently arrested and sent to jail in the scam while another student was declared as arts topper.
