PATNA: A woman in Bihar donated her left kidney to her husband on their 11 marriage anniversary to save her life partner’s life. The man had been on dialysis for the past one year and his life had virtually turned into a hell.
Ranjit Anand, a resident of Phulwarisharif locality in Patna district, had his both kidney failed last year after which the doctors suggested him for kidney transplant for his survival.
Subsequently, the man earnestly looked for a donor but none came forward. This left him on dialysis for survival as he shuttled between the hospital and his home.
He was employed in a private company but his continued health problems also caused financial loss to him.
As utter hopelessness gripped this man, his wife ultimately came forward to his rescue. On Friday, the man was pleasantly when his wife reached the hospital and offered to donate one of her kidneys as a perfect gift on their 11th wedding anniversary.
Very soon, her health check-up was conducted and after finding everything fine with her, the doctor took out her left kidney to transplant the same in her husband. The transplant proved successful.
In the evening, the hospital authorities arranged a cake after which the couple cut it to celebrate their wedding anniversary in style in the hospital.
“Nothing better could have been the perfect gift for the wedding anniversary as this one,” said Dr Ajay Kumar who transplanted the kidney. He said the patient was fine and his health is improving slowly.
