PATNA: In another setback to the RJD, the CBI has summoned party chief Lalu Prasad and his son Tejashwi Yadav in connection with the railway hotel scam.
Lalu has been asked to appear on September 11 whereas Tejashwi has to appear the very next day, on September 12.
Tejashwi, former deputy chief minister, is Leader of Opposition in Bihar assembly. His mother Rabri Devi is also an accused in the case.
The scam involves facilitating contract to a private company to run railway hotels in lieu of getting three-acre land plot in Patna, as per reports.
The scam had taken place when Prasad was the railway minister in the UPA-I government.
The revelation of scam led to fall of the erstwhile Grand Alliance government in Bihar as Tejashwi refused to resign even after the CBI registered a case against him.
He claims the case was registered against him under a “deep political conspiracy” alleging chief minister Nitish Kumar has been part of this conspiracy.
