CBSE to punish teachers calling students ‘donkeys’ or ‘fools’

PATNA: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), a board of education for public and private schools under the Union government of India, has announced severe punitive action against teachers calling students “donkeys” or “fools”.

Authorities have told the local media that the teachers treating students with disdain by using such remarks against them would be placed under suspension, treating it as the case of “mental tortures”.

The action will be initiated once the victim students register a complaint against the teachers. They could also file complaints online.

The authorities have promised not to reveal the name of the complainants.

“Once the complaint is filed, it will be independently verified at our own level by the CBSE. The action will follow if the complaints are found to be true,” a CBSE official was quoted as saying in the local media today.
