PATNA: The Congress has come out in open support of RJD president Lalu Prasad saying it stands firmly with the RJD at this hour of crisis.
On Monday, Bihar Congress chief Kaukab Quadri rushed to the residence of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and held talks with him. The meeting lasted for about an hour. Tejashwi is younger son of the jailed RJD president.
“The Congress stands firmly with the RJD. We will together fight the next elections and also chalk out the strategy together,” state Congress chief told the media.
He said the RJD-Congress alliance would demolish the “communal forces” in the country.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of Prasad having been sent to jail in a fodder scam case. He has been sentenced to 3.5 years in jail.
Another senior Congress leader and former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay, on the other hand, rushed to the Ranchi-based Birsa Munda central jail yesterday to meet Prasad.
