PATNA: Authorities in Bihar today ordered an investigation after the photograph of a Pakistani girl featured on the cover of a books which aims to promote sanitation.
As per reports, the district administration in Jamui, some 150 km east of Patna, recently launched “Clean Jamui, Healthy Jamui” campaign to make the masses aware about the importance of sanitation.
To make the masses and children know more about the campaign, the local district administration even got printed booklets and notebooks having the photograph of this Pakistani girl on their cover page. These booklets and notebooks were later distributed among the schoolchildren, aanganwadi centres and others.
The goof-up came on Friday when a local media highlighted the girl featuring on the cover of the booklets and notebooks about sanitation campaign, happens to a Pakistani girl.
An investigation into the matter has revealed the girl prominently featured in the sanitation booklets was drawing a Pakistani flag and was being promoted as the face of UNICEF in Pakistan for education. The girl’s photograph features with a story titled “See how education is reaching children in Pakistan”.
Taking the matter seriously, the Jamui district magistrate Dharmendra Kumar has now ordered an investigation into the entire matter. “We will initiate action against the guilty after the probe report comes,” the district magistrate told the media on Saturday.
