PATNA: Armed criminals raided a nationlised bank in Bihar early Thursday morning and looted Rs 52 lakh.
The incident took place in Gola Road branch of the Uco bank in Samastipur district.
As the bank opened for the day today, armed miscreants entered the bank and first disconnected the power connection to the CCTV, witnesses said.
Subsequently, they went into the bank strong room and robbed Rs 52 lakh at gun-point before fleeing the scene.
The number of criminals is stated to be 10 and they had come on bikes.
Police are conducting raids to nab the criminals. This is the first major incident of bank robbery in the new year.
The incident comes barely a day after the chief minister held meeting with the police officials over the crime situation and asked to clamp down crime.
