PATNA: Three ‘sadhvis’ (women religious preachers) were allegedly gang-raped at gun-point in Bihar in a shocking revelation bringing back to memory similar incident at Dera Ashram in Haryana.
The incident took place at Sant Kutir Ashram in Nawada last month but was reported to the police only on January 4.
According to reports, the sadhvis were cooking food in their room when the Ashram volunteers barged into their room and gang-raped them at gun-point.
Media reports said the victims were raped for about a week during which the accused persons also warned them of severe consequences as a result of which they fled the scene out of panic.
However, they returned only last week after being convinced by some people in the Ashram to come and register a case with the police, media report said. All the accused persons are said to be from UP and Chhattisgarh.
The police have registered a case and raids are on to nab the absconding accused persons.
“We have registered the case and raids are being conducted to nab the accused persons,” local Nawada district superintendent of police Vikas Burman told the media on Friday.
