Doctors tell HIV patient to leave hospital soon, PMCH admn orders probe

PATNA: The inhume face of the junior doctors at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) located in the capital city of Bihar has once again come to light.

In a fresh incident the junior doctors have been accused of threatening an HIV patient admitted to the hospital and telling him to leave.

The patient who hails from Saharsa district of Bihar is admitted to the orthopaedic ward of the hospital since December 15 but the junior doctors lost cool after coming to know that he has contracted the deadly HIV positive.

The medical examination of the patient was done at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) and the report came on Thursday.

“Once seeing the report, the doctors told him to get lost soon or they will have to shoo him out,” the victim’s brother Jawahar Kumar told the media on Friday.

According to him, the doctors behaved roughly with the patient as a result of which his mental condition has worsened.

Taking the matter seriously, the hospital administration has ordered an inquiry into the matter and announced to punish the accused persons.
