Fight over rasogulla ends in cancellation of wedding in Bihar
PATNA: A wedding in Bihar had to be cancelled and the groom returned home without his bride after a fight over rasogulla turned violent.
Rasogulla or rasgulla, a syrupy dessert is very popular in Indian sub-continent and has been very high in demand at any auspicious occasion.
As per report, a wedding procession had come to Nalanda from Madpasauna village Sheikhpura district for marriage of Sudhir Prasad’s daughter on Sunday evening. Everything was smooth till the groom and bride exchanged garlands.
Trouble arose when the guests who were part of the groom’s wedding procession took seats at the dining tables for taking food. Reports said during the serving of foods, some guests kept on demanding rasogullas at regular intervals.
Initially, the host fulfilled their demand but when they still continued on demanding more, they refused to oblige.
The refusal led to bitter fight between the two sides as the marriage venue turned into a battle field. Ultimately, the wedding guests who had come with the groom went on the rampage, beating the girl’s guests with bamboo sticks, rods or whatever they could find in their hands, leaving some 13 persons wounded.
The attackers didn’t spare the bride’s family, females and children either and assaulted them badly. Those left injured in the attack included the parents of the bride.
The incident infuriated the bride side so much so that they instantly cancelled the wedding and sent the groom packing without bride. The police are conducting raids to nab the attackers.
