Fodder scam convict calls on Bihar governor, generates political heat

PATNA: The RJD has bitterly reacted to fodder scam convict Dr Jagannath Mishra getting involved in political activities while on bail.

Former chief minister Mishra who was granted bail by the CBI court on health ground was caught on camera calling on Bihar governor Lalji Tandon on Friday and presenting some books to him.

But this meeting has now generated a lot of heat in the social media.

“Both (Mishra and RJD chief Lalu Prasad) face similar charges and convicted for the same crime but see the difference. One has been granted regular bail on medical grounds while the other Laluji suffering from 16 serious ailments is finding it hard to even get a place in Paying Ward of,” tweeted Sanjay Yadav.

Prasad is currently admitted to the RIMS in Ranchi for his treatment. Right now he is said to be also suffering from mild depression apart from multiple ailments.

Mishra was granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court in February this year shortly after being sentenced to jail in the fodder scam.

The bail was granted after his lawyer pleaded before the High Court that the former chief minister was suffering from blood cancer and undergoing treatment at Medanta hospital in Gurugram.

“His chemotherapy was due on February 15. But he is in Ranchi serving a jail sentence. Kindly grant him provisional bail so that he could visit the hospital in Haryana for chemotherapy,” his lawyers were quoted as telling the court in the media.
