Forcible retirement of Bihar teachers: Educator expresses anguish through poem

PATNA: A teacher in Bihar has launched subtle attack on chief minister Nitish Kumar through a poem for latter new directive regarding forcible retirement of teachers above 50 years so as to “improve quality of education” in government schools.

Through his poem now trending in the social media, the teacher identified as Purnanad Mishra has questioned the government’s move regarding forcible retirement of teachers above 50 years when there is no age barrier for leaders to quit politics.

Mishra is currently posted at a government middle school, Koran Sarai located under Dumraon block in Buxur district. Given below is the poem that he has composed to express his annoyance over the state government’s move:

“ऐसा निर्णय उचित नहीं है,
मेरे प्यारे वर्मा जी,
सेवा काल से पहले ही शिक्षक को
बैठा दिजियेगा घर में जी.
अनुभव की है बहुत जरूरत,
आज कल विद्यालय में
पैंसठ सालों का नेता कैसै
बना रहे सचिवालय में??
चौदह साल गंवा बैठा जो
सेवा शर्त बनाने में,
तत्पर हो गया जन्म लेते ही
शिक्षक को हटाने में!!
पहले हमको सूद चाहिए
अपने चौदह सालों का,
फिर फरमान सुनेंगे हम सब
सत्ता की गंदी चालों का!
भूल गये क्यू पटना की धरती पर
कितना भीषण संघर्ष हुआ,
जरा पलट के नजर देखिए
चौधरी जी का क्या हश्र हुआ?
मिली है कुरसी शिक्षा की तो
शिक्षक का सम्मान करें,
भूल पुरानी दोहराकर मत
गुरुवर का अपमान करें!!
वरना पूर्णानंद घनानंद
का इतिहास पढ़ायेगा
चाणक्य के ताकत का फिर से
सबको एहसास करायेगा.”

Earlier, Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav had took potshot at the chief minister over the issue and suggested him to take ‘sanyas’ on similar ground.

“You too have attained 65 years of age and are unable to government the state properly. You too must retire,” Tejahswi who was the deputy chief minister in previous Grad Alliance government said in his Facebook post today.

Blaming Kumar for the “pitiable” academic system in the state, Tejashwi said former retirement from politics would also bring a new hope to the people of Bihar.
