New Delhi: Popular search engine Google on Saturday paid tribute to Scottish Canadian engineer and inventor Sandford Fleming on his 190th birthday with a doodle.
The Doodle depicts Sandford’s legacy as an inventor of worldwide standard time and his contributions in engineering Inter-colonial Railway as well as the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Sanford proposed worldwide standard time zones, designed Canada’s first postage stamp, left a huge body of surveying and map making, engineered much of the Inter-colonial Railway and the Canadian Pacific Railway.
He was a founding member of the Royal Society of Canada and founder of the Royal Canadian Institute, a science organization in Toronto.
