PATNA: Prominent social activist from Bihar, Sudha Verghese has reached the KBC’s hot seat, bringing cheers among her fans.
“My experience with the KBC was wonderful,” she told the media on Friday.
She also described the issue being touched this time by the popular TV show as excellent adding such progragrames would help change the social prejudices towards the female class.
Verghese who runs her NGO, Nari Gunjan, reached the hot seat under KBC’s special programme in season-10 “Karmayogi Special”.
The NGO came under controversy when the Malala Fund suspended grants to it in August this year in view of sex scandals rocking shelter homes in Bihar. Nari Gunjan was one of the two NGO whose grants were stopped by the international charity foundation.
“After reading the disturbing allegations of child abuse in the TISS’ report to the government of Bihar, Malala Fund is immediately suspending its grants to Sakhi and Nari Gunjan, two organisations named in the report, pending further investigation,” Malala Fund’s Chief Communications Officer Taylor Royle had said in statement issued in August.
It was the TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) which exposed the horrible sex scandal allegedly running in the care homes in Bihar.
Mala Fund is a non-profit organization set up Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel prize laureate who survived Terrorist attacks in October 2012.
