PATNA: The Supreme Court today voiced serious concern over the brutal assault of girl students by the molesters in Bihar’s Supaul district on Saturday evening, leaving more than three dozen seriously wounded.
“How could you treat children like this?” the SC reportedly observed.
The court said such issues were being reported on regular basis.
“All these newspaper reports are not good. Skeleton of girls found… 34 girls beaten up because they wanted to protect themselves from molestation. How could you treat children like this? These kinds of problems are arising day in and day out,” the court was quoted as having said by The Statesman.
Around 35 schoolgirls were wounded after the miscreants raided Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ residential school, Daprakha in Supaul district on Saturday evening and assaulted them with bamboo sticks and other hard objects.
The girls were attacked just because they had protested lewd comments by the local youths who also had been scribbling dirty words on the walls of the school.
The wounded girls were later admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
The police have arrested nine persons in connection with the incident. Of the total arrested, four are women.
