Tejashwi made this appeal through a letter sent to all the prominent opposition leaders, such as Rahul Gandhi, Miss Mayawati, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, Chandrababu Naidu and Sitaram Yechury.

“The news channel studios have been seized fully by fascist tendencies and that no rational debate is possible in this theatre of death and doom,” Tejashwi mentioned in his one-page letter asking the opposition leaders to boycott the TV debates.

“Therefore, we appeal to all political parties in the opposition and conscientious voices of the Indian public sphere not to participate in the shouting matches held in the name of ‘debate’ by these channels and anchors and to refuse to be complicit in their campaign of distortion and deceit,” the RJD leader added.

He said while the opposition had been constantly raising the issues with respect to hunger, unemployment, Agrarian crisis and social justice, “a major section of mainstream media is silencing such concerns dictated by the BJP headquarters.”
