PATNA: Influential villagers have put up barricades at a village in Bihar to allegedly prevent Dalit villagers pass through that route.
The barricades made of bamboos have been put up at Ranga-Hasanpur village in Munger district of Bihar, leading to tension in the areas.
“Owing to the barricades put up by the influential villagers, the road of Dalits villagers leading to Sitakund or Munger district headquarters has got blocked,” a local Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar reported on Saturday.
Reports said the local authorities asked the rival sides to reach the local police station to hear their grievances and solve the dispute but one party avoided it.
The incident has raised a big question mark over the Nitish Kumar government’s claim for “development with justice” in Bihar.
