PATNA: A Jain monk committed suicide in the eastern Indian state of Bihar over some issues which he claimed was totally unbecoming of a saint. However, he didn’t reveal what the “wrong” he had committed.
Jain monk Bipran Ji Sagar Maharaj was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a Jain temple in Bhagalpur district on Tuesday afternoon, police said today.
Police said the monk had gone to his temple room at around 10.30 in the morning for meditation which was his daily routine.
When he didn’t come out of his room till late in the evening, the guard broke open his door only to find him hanging from the ceiling fan.
The police found a suicide note from his room. The note mentioned he was frustrated over at some issues saying “a saint shouldn’t do like this”.
“Hame sadhu hokar ye kam nahin karana chahiye magar ham galat kar rahe hain,” the victim monk wrote in his suicide note. He, however, didn’t reveal what wrong he had committed.
As per the report, the victim was a resident of Damoh town in Madhya Pradesh and had become a monk 18 years back.
