PATNA: A delegation of the JD-U today met President Ram Nath Kovind to apprise him of the party’s demand for granting special category status to Bihar.
The delegation led by Ashok Chaudhary met the President amid reports that the Centre has rejected this demand.
“We met Kovindji to sensitize him that why we are demanding Special status to Bihar,” Chaudhary was quoted by news agency IANS as telling the President.
The JD-U was quite hopeful of getting its long-pending demand fulfilled after it returned to the NDA last year but much to its shock, the party found its demand ignored.
Of late, the JD-U has raked up the issue again and the chief minister himself has been quite vocal about this demand.
During the JD-U’s national executive meeting held in Delhi on Sunday too, the party reiterated its demand for grating special category status to Bihar.
