Jharkhand court hands out death to Maoists for killing six cops

PATNA: A local court in Jharkhand has handed out death sentence to two Maoists for the killing of six policemen, including a district superintendent of police in 2013.

Additional district and sessions judge, Dumka, Mohammad Taufiqool Hasan awarded the death sentence to the Maoists on Wednesday saying their acts can’t be pardoned.

The incident had taken place in July 2013 in Kathikund police station area of Dumka district.

The then Pakur SP Amarjeet Balihar was returning after holding a meeting the senior police officials in Dumka when the Maoists ambushed them and attacked his carcade, killing six of them on the spot.
