Jharkhand high court denies bail to Lalu in fodder scam

PATNA: RJD chief Lalu Prasad today failed to get reprieve from the Jharkhand High Court where he had moved to get bail after being sentenced to 3.5 years in jail a fodder scam case.

The court of justice Apresh Prasad Singh failed to grant him bail saying let the case records reach him from the local court and posted the matter for hearing after two weeks.

Prasad was sentenced to 3.5 years in jail in a fodder case relating to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 87 lakh from Deoghar treasury last month.

He was hopeful of getting the reprieve but given the court’s move he may not come out of jail at least for two weeks.

Prasad had sought bail from the court on the ground that he is old, suffering from multiple health problems and has been always cooperating with the court.

He is currently lodged in the Birsa Munda Central jail in Ranchi.
