Journalism student thrashed at police station for making video of cops taking bribe

PATNA: A student doing journalism courses from a local college was badly beaten by local policemen after he recorded a video of cops taking bribe from a resident to settle a land dispute.

Reports said a policeman posted with the Digha police station in Patna district reached Nirala Nagar locality to inspect construction works going on at a disputed site on Wednesday.

In the meanwhile, he accepted a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the person concerned but this act was recorded in mobile camera by the student.

The cops got enraged after watching the youth and took him to police station in his jeep.

At the police station, the cops snatched his mobile phone and deleted all the videos. They also beat him badly and let him off after getting him signed on a bond.

Subsequently, the victim sent the complaint to the WhatsApp numbers of senior police officials who taking the complaint seriously suspended four cops involved in assaulting the youth.

Patna SSP Manu Maharaj said the case was being registered against the cops and the accused will be arrested and sent to jail after proper investigation.
