Judge orders Bihar cop take off his uniform after boy was brought to court in handcuff

PATNA: A local court in Bihar ordered a policeman take his uniform off in full public view after a teenaged boy was brought to the court in handcuff.

The bizarre incident took place in the Bhagalpur district court on Monday. The teenager was accused of kidnapping a girl with the intention to marry her.

According to a report in Gulf News, a 13-year-old girl was going to coaching on August 9 when the accused kidnapped her at gun-point. The case was registered with the Sanhoula police station in Bhagalpur district.

Based on the complaint registered by victim’s father, the police arrested the accused teenager on Sunday and the very next day on Monday, he was produced in the court of additional district and sessions judge Shivanand Mishra.

Seeing the teenager in handcuff, the judge lost his cool asked the cop if he had any knowledge of law, the paper reported.

Before the policeman could say anything, the judge ordered that his uniform be instantly taken off.

Even before the court staff could reach to implement the judge’s order, the policeman himself took off his uniform and stood half-naked in vest.

In the meantime, someone form the court employees offered him a shirt which the cop later put on and said sorry.
