PATNA: Armed criminals today shot dead a villager in Bihar who was the key witness in the murder of senior BJP leader Visheshwar Ojha.
The incident took place at Sonbarsha village under Karnamepur police outpost in Bhojpur district on Friday morning.
Police said Kamal Kishore Mishra was returning home from his farmland when the miscreants opened fire at him, killing him on the spot.
The slain villager was the prime witness in the murder of BJP leader Ojha who was killed in February 2016.
Ojha was meeting his supporters at a busy market place in Sonbarsha around six in the evening when the waylaying criminals fired at him from sophisticated weapons as the panicky villagers fled the scene.
He was soon rushed to a nearby hospital when the criminals left the spot but was declared having brought dead. Reports said the criminals pumped some 14 bullets into his body.
The victim was returning from a marriage function on his Safari SUV and had stopped midway to meet his supporters when the criminals attacked him.
