PATNA: A journalist working for a vernacular daily in Bihar was today shot by rampaging criminals barely two days after senior journalist Gauri Lankesh was killed in cold blood in Bengaluru.
The fresh incident took place in Arwal district of Bihar on Thursday evening. The victim works for Rashtriya Sahara.
Journalist Pankaj Kumar Mishra was returning home when motorcycle-borne criminals shot him, wounding him critically.
Soon after the incident, the villagers rushed him to a local hospital from where he was shifted to the Patna Medical College and Hospital.
According to a report in a Hindi daily, kin of a local JD-U legislator’s personal assistant were allegedly involved in the attack.
Police have arrested one criminal while raids are on to nab other absconding accused.
The local district superintendent of police Dilip Kumar has described it as a case of personal enmity.
