PATNA: Setting aside political differences, RJD president Lalu Prasad today joined the wedding ceremony of Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi’s son Utkarsh Tathagata organized at the sprawling Veterinary college ground in Patna.
Prasad who had gone there alone was warmly welcomed by Modi who hugged him. Prasad in turn blessed the newly-wed couple and remained seated there with other guests to watch the wedding rituals.
“Politics should not come in the way of personal relations. Sushil Modi too had participated in the wedding of his daughters,” Prasad told the media today.
Prasad’s presence at the function followed after Modi called him up in the morning and requested him to grace the occasion. Earlier, Prasad had been extended e-invitation only.
It was widely speculated in the media that Prasad would be giving the wedding function a miss given the recent controversy caused by open threat by Prasad’s son Tej Pratap Yadav to thrash Modi but ultimately the geniality won.
A host of political luminaries, Including several chief ministers, Union ministers and governors attended wedding of Modi’s son.
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar too joined the marriage programme but there was no interaction, not even eye contacts, between him and the RJD president. Also, they avoided seating together.
