PATNA: Bihar’s deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav has invited Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhabsali in his home state to shoot remaining part of film Padmavati.
Bhansali cancelled his film shooting in Jaipur and left for Mumbai last week after the sets of Padmavati was vandalized by the members of Rajput community group which also attacked the director.
“What happened with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in BJP-ruled Rajasthan is shocking,” tweeted Tejashwi who is son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
He said the entire incident would have created much brouhaha had it taken place in Bihar.
“If Bhansali incident would have taken place in Bihar, there would have been endless hot debates on Jangalraj & Casteism by elite and eminent journalists,” alleged the deputy CM.
He invited Bollywood to shoot films in Bihar while assuring full protection to them.
“I invite Bollywood to come & shoot in historical, glorified, culturally rich & developing Bihar. Will extend all sorts of help all the way,” promised Tejashwi adding “Bihari’s are most warmth, fun loving, caring & welcoming nature (sic)”.
RJD chief Prasad too extended similar invitation to the Bollywood and also questioned the silence of “elite media” in widely reporting the matter.
“Had such incident taken place in Bihar, then BJP-backed media would have left nothing to paint the state in poor light but now the same media is mysteriously silent since the incident has occurred in a BJP-ruled state,” Prasad alleged.
Rajput Karni Sena which attacked Bhansali last week has asked the Bollywood director to change the name and theme of the movie if he wants to resume shooting of his movie.
Bhnsali has clarified there is no romantic dream sequence or any objectionable/romantic scene between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji in the movie.
The film features Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in leading roles.
