PATNA: A special CBI court today deferred the sentencing of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and 15 other accused persons in the fodder scam case till tomorrow (Thursday), according to media reports.
The court deferred the date of sentencing owing to death of two lawyers. As a result of which Prasad who had been brought to the court for letting him know the quantum of punishment in the case was sent back to the jail once again.
Prasad along with other accused persons had been convicted by the court on December 23 last. Six others, including former chief minister Jagannath Mishra, however, were acquitted by the court.
The special court also served contempt notices on three RJD leaders, such as Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Shivanand Tiwari and Tejashwi Yadav for questioning the court’s verdict in the case and asked them to appear in person before the court on January 23, according to a PTI report.
