PATNA: Former health minister Tej Pratap Yadav on Saturday himself confirmed about the divorce petition he had filed in the court to seek divorce from his newly-wed wife saying he was living a “suffocating” life.
Tej Pratap, elder son of jailed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad, was married to Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of former chief minister Daroga Rai, only in May this year.
“It is true that I have filed a divorce petition. Ghut-ghut ke jine se toh koi fayada hai nahin (What was the point in living a suffocating life)?” Tej Pratap told the local media on Saturday en-route Ranchi to meet his father in jail.
The million dollar question doing the round now is if his wife Aishwarya provoked him to give divorce?
Reports quoting the local media said one thing that apparently hurt the sentiment of Tej Pratap was the way his wife had once reportedly suggested him to seek divorce during a minor argument.
“When there was a fight between us, Aishwarya was the one who told me to get divorced,” Tej Pratap was quoted as saying by news channel Republic.

He said there was serious adjustment problem in his life.
“Ours was a mismatch. I am a simple man with simple habits while she is a modern woman, educated in Delhi and used to life in a metropolis,” Tej Pratap was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
He explained his wife studied in from Miranda House and Amity in Delhi while he passed from the Patna University. Also, he is a religion person while she is from very high society, he narrated.
He claimed the bow was out of the arrow now and it will reach the final destination come what way. “None can change my decision,” he said.
Tej Pratap has filed the divorce petition in the family court in Patna and has been listed for hearing on November 29.
Tej Pratap by nature is a religious person and has been often seen making frequent visits to Mathura, Vrindavana and Kuruksetra. He has claimed himself as descendant of Lord Krishna.
