PATNA: Armed criminals called up Bihar sugarcane minister Khurshid Alam on Saturday and demanded an extortion of Rs 10 lakh from him—third time in past six months.
As per reports, the miscreants first sent the minister an SMS last evening seeking extortion but as he didn’t respond, they called him up today to put the same demand.
The caller also gave him the bank account number where the money was to be deposited and threatened to kill him if he fails to oblige, reports added.
The police have begun investigation into the case. Earlier this month, the miscreants had demanded Rs One lakh from him.
In June this year, the miscreants again had demanded Rs 10 lakh as extortion from the minister in the Nitish Kumar government.
Later one person was arrested in connection with this extortion demand but the minister’s trouble continues as usual.
