No ‘Kurtafaad’ Holi for Lalu this time as court rejects his bail plea

PATNA: A local court in Jharkhand today rejected the bail petition of RJD chief Lalu Prasad who is lodged in the Ranchi jail after his sentencing in two fodder scam cases.

Given the situation, he is now set to celebrate Holi which falls very next week, in jail. Prasad has been known for celebrating “Kurtafaad” Holi in the company of his colleagues and friends.

He already missed the Makar Sankranti festival last month.

Justice Apresh Kumar Singh of Jharkhand High Court rejected his bail after going through his documents pertaining to conviction and said bail could have been granted only when the convict had undergone half of the sentence awarded to him, IANS reported.

As per media reports, Prasad had sought bail on the ground on his falling health but this contention was opposed by the prosecution lawyer.

Prasad has been sentenced to 3.5 years and five years in jail in two separate fodder scam cases by the CBI courts in the past two months.
