Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Jail minister Kusum Mehdale today said people should praise the state police for killing the fleeing terrorists, rather than raising question over it.
Eight Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) terrorists were killed in encounter with the police hours after they had escaped from the Bhopal central jail killing a prison guard.
“You should praise us for killing the accused even though they escaped,” the minister told the media today.
“I accept there are lapses on our part. Some CCTVs in the jail may not be working. How they managed to scale the wall I don’t know,” she added.
The encounter was a joint operation by Bhopal Police’s counter terrorist group (CTG) and Anti-terror squad (ATS), led by IPS officer Sanjeev Shami, reports said.
