New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday accepted the Election Commission’s recommendation to disqualify 20 Aam Aadmi Party MLA’s. AAP is headed by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The move has been taken against them for violating the provisions of the Office of Profit.
The Election Commission had on Friday sent its recommendation of disqualifications to President Ram Nath Kovind for approval.
However, AAP will not face any problem in running the Delhi government immediately, as the party has 67 out of 70 Assembly seats.
Welcoming the EC’s decision, the BJP said Delhi CM Kejriwal should immediately resign.
The Congress, which currently has no member in the Delhi Assembly, said it is ready for the mid-term polls in 20 vacant seats.
