PATNA: The ruling JD-U led by chief minister Nitish Kumar today said it was ready for every situation and would have no problem in facing the voters if the elections for both the Lok Sabha and the state assembly were held simultaneously.
The next Lok Sabha elections are due in 2019.
“The JD-U is ready for going to voters if the elections for LS and Bihar state assembly were held simultaneously in 2019,” state JD-U president Vashishtha Narayan Singh told the media on Tuesday.
Singh’s reaction came on a remark made by union minister for minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi who suggested for simultaneous LS and assembly polls to reduce expenditure and ensure uninterrupted development of the country.
Naqvi had made this suggestion as a part of electoral reforms in the country during a function in Patna in the weekend.
