PATNA: A prisoner who was released from jail for his “good conduct” has been sent back to the prison after he was found involved in killing of two villagers.

Pawan Kumar Singh, 27, a resident of Aurangabad district, had been serving seven-year jail term in the local divisional jail but on Gandhi Jayanti this year, he along with six prisoners was released for jail for his “good conduct”.

Shortly after his release, however, he killed two persons identified as Md Shafiq and his cousin Md Gaddi. As per reports, Shafiq was found having illicit relationship with his wife which angered him much.

While he shot Shafid dead, his cousin was killed by getting drowned in a local pond.

The entire story came to light when the police scanned call details of Shafiq’s mobile. It was from here that the police reached Pawan’s wife who later spilled the beans, leading to arrest of the released prisoner again.

The state government has removed the jail superintendent Avinash Kumar Singh for the mess-up and hiding facts from the government.
