PATNA: RJD leader and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav today declared to support chief minister Nitish Kumar only if he retires from active politics.
Tejashwi who is younger son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad made this announcement while addressing the 22nd foundation day of the party on Thursday.
“RJD could consider supporting Nitish Chacha if he decides to retire from active politics,” Tejashwi told the audience today.
“We do not want, at any condition, to see Nitish Kumar in Grand Alliance (GA). If he joins the GA again, then Tejashwi will be called greedy. How can we offer membership to those who insulted the mandate of the people? We will not allow his entry into the GA,” Tejashwi was quoted as telling the function by news agency IANS.
He added the GA doesn’t need Nitish Kumar to defeat the BJP. “Some people are trying to create a narrative here that BJP will not be defeated till JDU comes back in Mahagatbandhan. They (BJP-JDU) recently lost a number of by-polls in Bihar, so what happened then?” asked Tejashwi.
He also said the BJP could dump the JD-U anytime and go for simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha and state assembly. Further, he asked the party workers to get ready for elections.
