RLSP chief Kushwaha hints at ‘compromise’ when everyone guessed about his resignation!

PATNA: Angry RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha today scripted a new chapter “political shrewdness”.

While he expressed his displeasure over allotment of fewer number of seats by the BJP under the seat-sharing arrangement, at the same time he said the country urgently needs Narendra Modi at the helm for the next five years.

“It will be better for India if Modi stays as PM for the next five years,” Kushwaha told a press conference In New Delhi on Tuesday.

He added he was with the NDA and that there should not be any confusion about it.

The observation came right when the media had begun running stories about Kushwaha almost deciding to resign as a minister from the NDA government over BJP not giving ‘respectable’ treatment to his party in the seat-sharing deal.

At the media briefing, he himself revealed he was not at all happy at the treatment at the hands of the BJP leadership and that his party should be given “respectable” number of seats.

“Ham chahate hain ki RLSP ke saath sammanjanak samjhauta ho,” he said.

According to him, he had a positive meeting with BJP’s Bihar in-charge Bhupendra Yadav to whom he had conveyed the sentiments of his party.

According to him, in the next phase he could meet BJP chief Amit Shah and if the situation warranted so, he would also be meeting PM Modi.

Kushwaha’s volte face was in complete contrast to the prevailing resentment in the party rank and file over “humiliating treatment” meted out to the RLSP in seat-sharing deal.

Reports are that the RLSP which won all the three seats in the last LS polls are being offered tow seats this time.

What was further humiliating, the RLSP was not even invited at Friday press meet where Shah and chief minister Nitish Kumar announced to contest equal number of seats in the upcoming LS polls in Bihar.
