PATNA: The Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) which is headed by Union minister Upendra Kushwaha appeared one step close to quitting the NDA.
The party leadership on Saturday launched further attacks on the BJP for ignoring the RLSP over seat-sharing.
“Nobody should take us lightly. If the BJP thinks the RLSP will play second to them, it’s not going to happen…RLSP is not the slave of the BJP,” RLSP’s acting president Nagmani said, addressing party workers in Jehanabad on Saturday.
He asserted the RLSP would contest the Jehanabad LS seat in all circumstances. This seat is currently held by rebel RLSP MP Arun Kumar who has now formed his own party.
The party leadership is angry over the fact that while the other NDA allies, such as the JD-U of chief minister Kumar and LJP of Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan were being consulted over seat-sharing, the RLSP has been kept neglected so far.
Last week, Nagmani had alleged his party was being forced to quit the ruling alliance.
“We are being constantly insulted, being forced to move out of the NDA,” Nagmani has told the media.
He wondered how the BJP was offering many seats to the JD-U which won only two seats out of 40 it had contested while the RLSP with a strong 10-percent support base and which won three seats out of three in the last polls was being offered only two.
“We are wondering over the treatment. A party with barely 1 ½ percent support base is being given many seats while the RLSP with 10 percent vote bank is being offered two seats,” Nagmani had said.
