PATNA: The row over movie Padmavati has now reached Bihar with a cabinet minister threatening to oppose screening of film if the character of queen Padmavati was distorted.
“Queen Padmavati has been presented as an ideal in Indian history and any bid to distort her character in the upcoming movie will meet with stiff protests,” Bihar industry minister Jai Kumar Singh told the media on Sunday.
He said he would take decision in this regard only after watching the movie.
Padmavati, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is scheduled to be released on December 1.
The film stars Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini.
Yesterday, a new poster of the movie was released where the character of Sultan Alauddin Khilji played by Ranveer Singh, could be seen.
Ranveer Singh is looking the perfect sultan in the poster.
Sharing the image, the actor tweeted: “-SULTAN ALAUDDIN KHILJI- December 1st #Padmavati.”
The periodic movie is being considered as a major release of the year.
