PATNA: Yet another journalist was attacked by miscreants in Bihar—the second incident in the past 24 hours.
The fresh incident has been reported from northern Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district.
Journalist Manoj Kumar who works for a local Hindi daily was on way to his office from home on Thursday evening when the miscreants attacked him, the local media reported today.
After raising an alarm, local villagers rushed to the spot and nabbed two of them which were handed over to the police.
In this connection, a case has been registered with the local Ahiyapur police station
The journalist said the miscreants were angry over his report against liquor mafiosi who were involved in illegal alcohol trade despite total prohibition enforced in Bihar.
The same day, another journalist Pankaj Kumar Mishra was shot at by motorcycle-borne assailants in Arwal district of Bihar. The victim works for Rashtriya Sahara.
The local district superintendent of police Dilip Kumar has described it as a case of personal enmity.
This is the seventh incident of attacks on journalists in the past 15 months.
Since May last, the criminals have killed three journalists— Braj Kishore Rajesh in Samastipur, Dharmendra Singh in Rohtas and Rajdeo Ranjan in Siwan district.
A series of such incidents have caused panic among journalists.
