PATNA: A smart robber looted a bank in Bihar by simply bursting crackers in the bank premises, stunning the cops.
The bizarre incident took place in the Pupari branch of the Bank of Baroda in Sitamarhi district on Thursday afternoon.
Witnesses and media reports said the robber burst a bundle of crackers which he had carried in a bag in the office once entering the bank as a thick blanket of smoke covered the entire premises.
The bursting of crackers created panic as the people mistook them as bombs and began fleeing for safety.
Taking advantage of the situation, the robber reached near the cash counter and looted over Rs 334,000 from the cashier before fleeing the scene in the chaos.
The police have begun investigation in the case. The police are scanning the CCTV footages to identify the criminal involved in the crime.
