PATNA: The cat of “Special status” is again out of bag now!
Nine months after Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar broke away from the Grand Alliance to form his new government with the BJP, the JD-U has once again raised the demand for granting special category status to the state.
What is further surprising, the JD-U is now blaming the Centre for meting out “injustice” to the Bihar.
It is interesting to note that BJP-led Narendra Modi government is at the Centre and the JD-U is a key ally of the BJP.
“What is our fault? What crime we have committed? The Centre has no proper attention towards Bihar,” senior Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader and parliamentarian RCP Singh, considered close to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told a meeting in Patna on Saturday. The meeting organized by ADRI was attended by all political parties.
He also hit out at the Centre for forgetting Raghuram Rajan committee report that earlier had recommended for priority to the backward states in granting special package and special status.
Of late, the chief minister himself has raised the demand at public forum.
“Special category status must be granted to Bihar put it on the path to progress and prosperity although the state is on development path on its own,” the chief minister had told a function in Nalanda district on April 30.
